I had a very disappointing experience at this hospital during my time in Sofia from 2015 to 2016. I visited the facility two to three times due to various health issues, but each time, I was met with rude and unprofessional behavior from both the doctors and the staff. On one occasion, I was nearly yelled at simply for seeking medical assistance. Having lived in East Asia for five years, where healthcare standards are exemplary, I was shocked by the stark contrast. Unfortunately, Bulgaria’s healthcare system seems to lag significantly behind. If you need to visit this hospital, be prepared for a dehumanizing experience and a lack of compassion from the staff. 🇧🇬🍌

I had an appointment with proff. Karakostov, for my discopathy as it was it was hurting badly...came to Sofia from Varna, about 450 km, took hotel and came promptly to the hour( hardly walking)...but my disappointment came when the nurse announced, that the professor is not coming to work today !!! Very primitive... Thank you, Professor Karakostov.

Worst hospital in the whole world. Worse than the worst one in Africa! Money making mashine, where the patient is totally worthless, only money counts. No humanity whatsoever, staff consists of only idiots. Don't visit under any circumstances, if your condition is bad - it will get even worse there! Room where dying people are suffering costs more than a 5 stars hotel for their companion, with no bed in that room (!), shower worse than the ones at a festival. Noone taking care of this person, while screaming in pain all day and night long. No medication for this person (I guess too expensive for them), often not even a doctor there. Companion has to take care of that person completely on her own, while noone giving a sh... about the condition of any of them! Staff behaving like god, even though they're absolute amateurs. Pure hell! Avoid at all costs!

I was treated excellently here for an advanced case of hemorroids after being taken on an emergency basis following an examination at Union Clinic by Ersin Hodjadjikov. I was operated on the same day as I arrived after some checks. Spinal anesthetic plus some "it's like 10 beers" drug, I was quite happy during the doctor cutting the hemorroids out. The procedure went perfectly, later I would learn, as expected of this precise surgeon that his colleagues only speak highly of. The next days of recovery were more than painful, but the on-demand anaesthetic made it better. Unfortunately I wasn't instructed too well that it's fine to use it any time I had pain, so I was often holding out to the very brink of it being too much to handle before pressing the button. Ersin was quite surprised to hear of that later on (he's only involved for brief checks after the operation). The hospital beds were comfortable, there were toilets in the rooms and we had a good time with my "roommate" throughout our recoveries. The nurses were helpful and understanding, even when I did the stupid thing of trying to walk to the toilet and relieve myself, while the anesthetic was still fairly strong in me. That recovery was the hardest time of my life, but I wouldn't have it any other way, compared to the regular pain and bleeding I had before that, including causing anemia due to the blood loss. Worth mentioning that I've gone through several other doctors and a procedure of litigation that was useless for my case. After a few weeks the pain subsided until it was completely gone. I was worried about some leftover artefacts, but was later checked again (directly with Ersin at the clinic he also privately works at, Union Clinic) and assured that's normal and there's no resurgence of hemorroids or anything. Several months later, this feels like one bad dream, with having perfect and painless toilet regime. I now take great care not to skip days like I used to before and take a mild laxative if I've only had dry food, which I try to avoid anyway. Thank you for giving me my happy life back!!!

Great experience with getting an MRI at the hospital. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who took the time to make sure the procedure is as comfortable as possible. They also took the time to go over the results of the scan and answer all my questions (while being very patient). Would definitely recommend!
