Hotel of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences в София

The hotel is located within the campus of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), making it very convenient for visits to nearby BAS Institutes. It has easy access to the city center by public transport and is only about a 15-minute drive from Sofia Airport. The rooms are small and outdated, clearly in need of renovation. Cleanliness was average and the tiny TV and old furniture made the stay somewhat uncomfortable. Breakfast includes four preset options (continental, omelette, etc.) but the menu is available only in Bulgarian. Overall, the atmosphere corresponds to what one might expect from a basic budget hotel, though the price feels rather high for the quality offered.

The rooms are dated, but clean and comfortable. The WiFi was spotty. Worked best in the toilet but struggled in the room. Only accepts cash for checkin and restaurants so ensure you have local currency with you.

Very old furniture and the heating comes from the air conditioner. Very nice and big reception. Rooms are clean. Lots of parking spots you can park anywhere nearby the hotel but you have to inform them up front. Very good price deal if you travel to Sofia.

We needed a hotel after arriving late at night from a flight. The location was convenient from the airport. The lobby staff were friendly, and parking was easy. The room was fine, however, it smelled quite badly from a damp/mildew smell, as if the bedding, pillows etc had not been dried properly. It was hard to sleep with such a strong smell, but perhaps we were unfortunate. The shower did not have a curtain long enough to reach the floor so the bathroom was completely soaked after we showered, which was quite dangerous as we almost slipped when walking into the room.

It's a nice affordable place, rooms are oldish and small, but good, with a small fridge inside, and a bathroom, stuff is very nice and helpful, breakfast is relatively cheap, but with a soviet style service :)
