A very successful liberal arts University in the Balkans. Nice campus, good location, impressive students, an array of programs. A real American higher education experience.

Still my favorite university! I spent 4 years studying for History and Civilization during my 2019 until 2023 Class Period and also the colleagues provided more assistance in applying for US Work and Travel, resolving issues, helping through my Bulgarian residence card and many more. More further improvements should be taken in stopping the bureaucracy, improving the food quality at the Canteen, establishing a new Psychology and Advising Center with an American psychologist and advisor and providing more foreign professors than Bulgarian ones. A tip: do not make so much friends in the university and try to stick with few of them, as I used to had many incidents and learnt from these ones. An Alumni student from 🇦🇱 studying in 🇩🇪🇪🇺 and 🇪🇬... In the end, I’ll truly miss Bulgaria. As Ataturk once said, he loved Bulgaria because he left someone there who cared for him...

Spending the semester here, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

I studied there for 1 semester, but had to transfer to another institution. The main problem with the university was mostly with the system itself, for example, with payments: them asking money for every single step was too much, I almost went broke. The problem was with the bureaucracy: you have to sign tons of documents and pay a lot of money (in my case it was 200€!) just to apply for a leave of absence (a special document with which you can rest from your studies for a length of a semester). Everything there was expensive for me, I don't think it's fine to pay 30$ per day for your food, and you're actually not supposed to eat anywhere else aside from the university canteen, because you can only spend 2 hours a day in the dorm kitchen, which is extremely low. By the way, I wasn't happy with the dorm staff either, because I got fined several times for pretty much no reason, and couldn't even appeal them later on. The RAs (resident assistants) and the dormitory director seemed toxic to me, they were acting like kings, and you can't really ask them anything, even if it's something serious. The quality of education is partially good, depending on the professor, but generally it was fine. AUBG is not a bad university, it's just not for everyone, but it is still too expensive, they give you too expensive value for money.
