Пикник „Българан“ в Kazanluk

We had a rather unpleasant experience at this restaurant in Kazanlak, and I feel it’s important to share it to help other travelers. We found this place through Google Maps—it’s located near a popular tourist site, and its high rating along with traditional-style decor attracted us, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived by car, a woman carrying a handbag enthusiastically approached us. She clearly wasn’t a staff member, but kept asking if we had a reservation and followed us into the restaurant, speaking to the staff in the local language. We didn’t ask for her help, but in order not to be impolite, we didn’t interrupt her either. Eventually, she helped us get seated on the second floor and told us the restaurant only offered a buffet—50 BGN per adult and 25 BGN per child. However, the food was very disappointing. As shown in the photos, the selection was extremely limited: one food counter and a small grill area with just five kinds of meat (mainly chicken, pork, and sausages). That was it—no other choices. Worse, we had to share the dining area with flies, as visible in the pictures. What shocked us most was that right after we started eating, we were suddenly asked to pay—but the price quoted was 50 EUROS per person, not BGN! Luckily, several people in our group were present during the initial conversation, so we were able to clarify things and avoid being overcharged. Most concerning of all, one of our group members experienced diarrhea shortly after the meal. I can’t say for sure whether this place is a tourist scam, but I can say with confidence that the food is mediocre and hygiene is questionable. If you still decide to eat here, make sure to confirm the prices in advance and be cautious about food safety.

I went there with my friend, based on a recommendation from a local friend. The decor was beautiful and traditional, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere! :) We ordered chicken kavarma, beef, salad, and bread. I personally loved the chicken kavarma and the bread—the bread was especially delicious and freshly baked. I would like to try more plates if I come back to Kazanlak !

Very nice place, friendly people. They are welcoming you from the entrance door and help you with everything. There is amazing program with dances, live music and tradicional bulgarian walks over a fire “Nestinarstvo” Prices are not high, parking place available, you can use a taxi from the city center for 2 euro to drive you there. Food tasty, fast and hot serving. Defenately you need to go and check this place. Bon apetit

Bread (Local made Naan/Pita!) and salads and Retro beer! View to the mountains. Really comfy place!!!

Great traditional Bulgarien Restaurant. Usually live music and additional entertainment (running over hot cole, different birds). Little playground for kids and free WiFi.
