We took the tour to the Rila Monastery and Boyana Church, and it was amazing! Everything was perfectly organized — from the punctuality to the kindness of our guide, Karina. She shared so many fascinating insights about Bulgaria’s history throughout the trip and showed deep knowledge about the monastery and the Boyana Church frescoes, which are truly stunning. The way she presents the information is so engaging and keeps your attention the whole time. It was absolutely worth it in every way!

We went to Plovdiv tour, booked through booking.com. Very punctual, clean coaches. Very nice and welcoming guide Dia till destination, that makes sure everyone is onboard and comfortable. Once at Plovdiv Sonya our guide explained everything in detail and took us for a nice tour in Plovdiv. Only thing is the time in morning should maybe start a bit earlier to have more free time Plovdiv as the journey is long.

Manage Expectations. We booked this trip through Viator, but it definitely wasn’t a typical Viator tour. We received an email the day before the tour requesting we arrive at 0830 … no problem, and so we arrived exactly at 0830 to the meeting point, however, we stood around until 0900 until the bus actually departed. Two couples arrived at 0900 and the tour guide asked a single man to vacate his chair so one of the two late couples could sit together. I thought that was unfair to the gentleman who arrived on time as requested. We signed up for an English speaking tour, but once we were on the bus our guide said she’d be giving the tour in both English and Spanish. It’s fairly distracting and not what we signed up for since the group was divided into two groups at the monastery and at the church. On the plus side - we had more free time to walk around on our own when the guide was with the other group. The guide was nice and provided a good amount of information. The tour was pretty basic and straightforward. As far as comfort goes, the bus was ok but filled to capacity, so if crowds are an issue for you then I would not think this tour would be good for you.

We booked a Full-Day Guided Tour in English to the Rila Monestery and Boyana Church on the 17th February. Everything about this tour was fabulous start to finish, thanks to Iva, our talented guided tour and the fabulous destinations this tour offered. This was our first time booking a guided tour, where transportation is provided, and we were delighted with the experience! The destinations were spectacular and Iva was thoughtful and insightful throughout. En route, Iva gave an overview of the history of Bulgaria and spoke through what museums were available at the Monestery. She arranged the two groups well and explained very clearly what time we needed to meet up. Upon arrival, she even helped us and a few others book our tickets to the museums (we chose the ethnographic museum, which I recommend). Both destinations were absolutely spectacular. Not knowing much about Bulgarian history and culture before, we felt like this experience gave us an excellent insight into Bulgaria's historical culture and traditions. The buildings, paintings and surrounding landscapes were breathtaking. The tours were really engaging. Iva clearly has so much knowledge about both destinations and of Bulgaria as a whole. Thank you so much for a brilliant tour!

We went for the Self-Guided tour to the Seven Rila Lakes. The tour was very well organized and our driver (Simeon Simeonov) was very kind. The time they gave us for the hike was more than enough and we had plenty of time to relax and take pictures. I recommend it for everyone who would like to visit the lakes without worrying about the transportation.
